Feedback Rules: Critique the Build, Not the Builder
Fyrbloc is a builder community, which means feedback matters.
People will share unfinished websites, apps, tools, games, scripts, logos, landing pages, ideas, and projects that are still being shaped.
Some will look polished.
Some will look rough.
Some will look like they were built during a power cut with one eye open and three tabs screaming.
That is fine.
The rule is simple:
Critique the work.
Do not attack the person.
Useful feedback helps builders improve.
Personal attacks make people stop sharing.
And if people stop sharing, the whole forge gets quiet and weird.

Good feedback is specific
Not useful:
This is bad.
Better:
The homepage idea is clear, but the main headline could explain the product faster.
Even better:
The homepage looks clean, but I did not understand what the product does until the second section. I would move the short explanation higher and make the main button more direct.
That is useful.
It gives the builder something to fix.
Feedback should point toward an improvement, not just throw a tomato and leave.
Focus on the build
Talk about:
- Layout
- Speed
- Wording
- Branding
- Navigation
- Mobile view
- User experience
- Code structure
- Feature clarity
- Project direction
- Trust signals
- Bugs
- Missing information
- What works well
- What should be improved first
Do not attack:
- The person
- Their skill level
- Their background
- Their confidence
- Their intelligence
- Their taste in fonts, unless the font has committed a serious crime
Even then, be professional.
Mostly.

Use this feedback format
When reviewing a project, try this:
What works well:
What confused me:
What I would improve first:
Mobile/desktop notes:
One strong suggestion:
Example:
What works well:
The colour scheme is strong and the idea is easy to understand.
What confused me:
The first button says “Start” but I was not sure what happens after clicking.
What I would improve first:
Make the call-to-action more specific.
Mobile/desktop notes:
Desktop looks good. Mobile spacing is tight under the hero section.
One strong suggestion:
Change “Start” to “Create Your First Project” or something more direct.
That is good feedback.
Clear. Useful. Not dramatic.
Nobody had to say:
Bro this is trash.
Because that helps exactly nobody.
Honest feedback is allowed
Fyrbloc does not require fake positivity.
You can say something needs work.
You can say something is confusing.
You can say something feels unfinished.
You can say a design choice is not working.
But say it in a way that helps.
Good:
This section feels unfinished because there is no clear next step for the visitor.
Bad:
This looks awful.
Good:
The logo is memorable, but it may be hard to read at small sizes.
Bad:
The logo is ugly.
Honest does not need to be rude.
Rude does not mean “more real.”
It usually just means someone skipped the useful part.
When asking for feedback
If you want feedback, help people give it.
Use this:
Project/link:
What it is:
Who it is for:
What I want feedback on:
Known problems:
Desktop/mobile:
How honest should feedback be?
Example:
Project/link:
https://example.com
What it is:
A landing page for a small AI writing tool.
Who it is for:
Solo creators and small businesses.
What I want feedback on:
Headline, button text, trust, and mobile layout.
Known problems:
Pricing section is not finished.
Desktop/mobile:
Please check both.
How honest should feedback be?
Direct but useful.
That makes replies better.
If you only post:
Thoughts?
You may get thoughts.
Possibly too many.
Possibly not the useful kind.

Do not pile on
If someone already received the same criticism five times, do not just repeat it.
Instead, add something new.
Not useful:
Yeah, the button is bad.
Useful:
I agree the button needs work. A clearer version could be “Start Your Build Log” because it tells people exactly what will happen.
Pile-ons make feedback feel like a public beating.
Fyrbloc is not here for that.
One clear point is enough.
Then move toward solutions.
Do not demand free work
Feedback is fine.
But do not expect members to redesign your whole project for free.
Reasonable:
Can anyone give feedback on my homepage headline and button?
Too much:
Can someone rewrite my entire site, redesign the logo, fix the mobile layout, make a marketing plan, and also choose my domain?
That is not a feedback request.
That is a job wearing a small hat.
Use Marketplace if you need paid help.
Respect beginners
Beginners are welcome.
Everyone starts somewhere.
Do not mock basic questions.
Do not shame someone for not knowing a tool.
Do not turn simple mistakes into a performance.
Good reply:
This is a common issue. You probably need to clear cache and publish assets.
Bad reply:
How do you not know that?
That reply belongs in the bin.
The small bin.
The one for tiny useless things.
No personal attacks
Do not post:
- Insults
- Harassment
- Mocking
- Bullying
- Name-calling
- Threats
- Personal digs
- Dogpiling
- Repeated hostile replies
- “Just joking” comments that are clearly not jokes
If your feedback needs the sentence:
No offence, but...
Pause.
Rewrite it.
There is probably a better version.

Good reply examples
The idea is strong. The first thing I would improve is the headline clarity.
The design feels modern, but the contrast may be too low on mobile.
The project makes sense after reading the second paragraph. Try moving that explanation higher.
The feature list is useful, but it may be too long. I would group it into three main benefits.
The site loads quickly for me. The main issue is that the button text feels vague.
These help.
They are direct without being weird about it.
Bad reply examples
This sucks.
Nobody will use this.
You clearly do not know what you are doing.
Just rebuild it.
Looks like trash.
These are not useful.
They are just noise with elbows.
Quick feedback checklist
Before replying, ask:
Am I talking about the work, not the person?
Did I explain why something needs changing?
Did I give at least one useful suggestion?
Did I avoid insults?
Did I avoid repeating what everyone already said?
Would this help the builder improve?
If yes, post it.
If no, rewrite it.
Feedback should sharpen the build, not flatten the builder.
Final note
Fyrbloc should be a place where builders can show unfinished work without getting buried.
That does not mean soft feedback only.
It means useful feedback.
Be honest.
Be specific.
Be fair.
Critique the build.
Respect the builder.
Build. Share. Review Properly. Launch.
